The truth is.

Dear readers, friends and followers. I feel it's time I share this with you. I usually don't post things that are this personal since this is more a "blog-of-nice-stuff" than it is a blog about me.

The thing is, that for the second time in my life, the evil little bastard called cancer moved in to my body. I'm furious, frustrated and very sad. I thought I had done my round but suddenly he is back. Not as ugly as last time perhaps, but ugly enough

The good news are that it was detected at a very early stage and the doctors tell me that all the evil stuff was removed with the surgery I had. I will be undergoing chemo therapy for the months to come though, to make sure that awful son-of-a-bitch doesn't move back in. Therefore, this blog will be silent for a while.

Meanwhile I will be spending time with the ones I love and find ways to cure both body and soul.

I thank you all for stopping by and I hope to be back soon!

Isn't it strange

When life is tough, people you've known for most (or all!) of your life strangely disappears. At the same time, people you've never met before turns up from nowhere to give you strenght and help you out.

Today we had a really awful day. Suddenly the doorbell rang and outside our door was this wonderful person with three books he wanted to give to my husband. Just to cheer him up. We've never met before.

Thank you so much! You saved our day, Egill!!

Today

Sometimes life hits you in the face big time. So today, when I have no words, I borrow from Isak Dinesen aka Karen Blixen. I won't be posting for a while, but I'll be back. I just need to be close to my salt water for a while. Love to all of you.

Tourists at home and roof top drama

Sometimes when you have friends staying at your place you rediscover your own city and remember why you love it so much. Thank you Hanna, Robert and little Lee for two amazing days!
We woke up after the Nørrebro Distortion festival night and discovered a guy sleeping on the roof of the building facing our appartment. He kept rolling closer and closer to the edge (you can see his arm like a little bump on the bottom pic) and us shouting and whisteling was no way near enough to wake him. We ended up calling the police who came and woke the tired man up. I hope he didn't get into touble because of us, but it was just too scary to watch and not do anything.

Muller Fien photography

Love these images from the studio of dutch (here we go again) furniture designer Maarten Van Severen by photographer Muller Fien. Beautiful.
Correction: Not Dutch! Belgian! Good to know my taste goes beyond the borders of the Neatherlands :)

I'm not the best blogger at the moment, I know. Still trying to get into my new job. I love it but it takes a while to adjust to a new place after all. Possibly the best job I've ever had, btw :) But, so you know, I'm still here!

So pretty.

Everything that comes out of the Netherlands looks good. Or at least, so it seems. (Sorry for the lo-res images, but I couldn't resist posting :)

No nails

I often wish I was better at building stuff. I come up with all sorts of amazing designs, amazing in my head at least since my knowledge in carpentery is next to none. My father is a very skilled carpenter and I've kept some of the drawings I made of stuff I wanted him to build for me when I was a kid. Like the one of a candy kiosk for example. I had written down that the shelves in the kiosk were supposed to be 1 centimeter wide...(!) Very useful information for my dad I guess!
This invention above could certainly be something for me. Developed by israeli design lab Dag these little thingies were made to join all sorts of things in your house, even for building shelves!

Iben Birch Bech lamps

Love these lamps that Iben made for a bar at the Roskilde Festival a couple of years ago!

Print saved and a cool pop-up store!

Hello friends! I hope you are enjoying this sunday evening. Copenhagen was cold today so we spent the day inside, cooking risotto (me) and watching a bicycle race on TV (Simon). To my great surprise the stains on my Lottas träd print faded away when it dried and are now almost impossible to see! Lucky lucky stupid little me :) I promise to take a photo of it once I get it framed.
Tomorrow I'm going to meet with this talented lady to discuss a future project and I'm very much looking forward to it!
And finally some eyecandy to finish off the week! Love the concept of this cool pop-up store for Australian fashion brand Arnsdorf created by design studio Edwards Moore. So simple but stunning. 154 pairs of tights were used in the installation!

Afraid to tell you how stupid I am, Lotta.

I recieved a gift in the mail a couple of days ago. A really really beautiful print by Lotta Olsson. I had been planning to take a photo of it today and post it here. I laid it out on the floor and put some candleholders in it's corners so that it would lay flat. I only had three of them so i reached towards the sofatable to get hold of a... a... a... Coffeacup!!! How incredible idiotic and totally mindless was that!! I had to call my husband and shed a little tear over my clumsyness. So, no photo of the much appreciated gift, but an image from Lotta's website once again. Thank you so much Lotta, I seriously love your prints, and I'm sorry that I'm such a clumsy dumbass. I'm still going to frame it, but I think you would prefer me to show an image without stains, so that's what I'll do.

London

Hi friends! I'm back from a wonderful stay in London so here are some pics :) We pretty much stayed away from the central parts of the city, except for a visit to Tate modern and a stroll through Borough market. Probably the best idea ever, since I came to like it a lot more than I did before. We ate a lot of really nice food and had a great time. Having such sweet and generous hosts really helped too! Thank you so much Gero and Cornelia! You are the best!

Thank you thank you thank you!!

Thank you so much to everyone who has left me London tips, I'm feeling so excited about this trip now! You are the sweetest!
I have a feeling that the upcoming weeks I won't be the most frequent blogger, since I started a new job last week. It's at a small book publishing company and I'm very happy about it, since I always dreamt about designing books for a living. Jubii!! But, you know what it's like when you start a new job, it can be quite exhausting. If it's quiet here, you can always pop by my other blog @ Elle interiör, that one is updated at least a couple of times a week.

The London trip is this upcoming weekend and one thing I will be sure to do is to have Afternoon tea at some really nice place. Teapot above is by Ettore Sottsass. Like a building almost.

London - I want your best tips!

We are going to London for a few days in the middle of february to visit Simon's sister and her fiance! I've been to London a few times but I never really fell in love. I am absolutely sure that this is because I haven't been to the right places! I'm sure our hosts have tons of great tips, but I thought I'd ask you too! So... I'm interested in everything; Museums, restaurants, current exhibitions, shopping, nice areas, cafés, clubs... everything! Fire away!

Playful and ingenious!

I love everything about this concept. The playfulness and the creativity. This is an interior for a boutique made by Italian designcompany Marama.
That lamp is just ingenious, and look at the fading floor!
