Bekkasin

I'm researching cover design for book series, you know - like Penguin books - but from different publishers. Fell over these 60's covers from Danish publisher Gyldendal. So simple and nice.

Don't know much about them other than what you can read here (in dansih)

Hope everyones weekend is going along fine. Mine is pretty quiet so far.

Workspace for the soul

Tomorrow I'm moving in to my new shared workspace in the eastern part of Copenhagen (Østerbro). It's really tiny but I'm looking forward to have a place outside my (also tiny) home where I can work with all the fun projects coming up this spring.

When I grow up I'll have a place like this one below. It used to belong to italian architect Achille Castiglioni and is actually a museum you can visit if you are ever in Milan. In the words of one of my favourite fictional characters: "Isn't it dreamy...?"

2011 Calendar sneak peak!

Me and Becs are working on our 2011 calendar. Picking 365 sticks was a hard job but it will be worth it for sure. We are hoping to get it ready and printed by the end of this month and this limited edition series will be sold through this blog and our website, possibly somewhere else too, but I'll keep you posted on that!
Have a great weekend!

Move in with me!

I recently became aware of my soft spot for wooden, painted little sculptures like these or these And a couple of days ago Ellie over at Mint  posted some by artist Pepa Prieto. I suppose they are some sort of paraphrase to the Alexander Girard ones and I like the fact that they have sort of a human form to them, and that it's hard to tell whether they are little people or something else.

Krumelur

For kids, or for those of us who never wants to forget how fun it is to play!
Or in the words of Pippi Longstocking "Kära lilla krumelur, jag vill aldrig bliva stur"
Sorry, I have no translation for that one, anyone who can  help me out?

Cloudy and a cold

Today I am very slow. I caught a cold again and keep sneezing and coughing and freezing. You know what it's like when the inside of your head just feels like a big lump of cotton. You can't think straight. Found these beautiful illustrations by iranian illustrator Yoota Azargeen through this blog. Pretty much illustrates my day.

Alphabet

Found this beautiful alphabet by designer and artist Peter Grundy over at equally beautiful blog All the mountains. I'm actually pretty tierd of all the alphabets made out of this and that, but this one really caught my eye. Love the colors and the details.

A gift to a very dear friend!

Very intense workshop together with my old friend Emma! We made graphics for this board wich later was given to another friend as a birthday gift. Everything was made by hand and each of the little squares in the top layer had to be cut out separately before spray painting.
It took us a few hours but I'm quite pleased with the result!

Your true colours?

This project, by swedish graphic designer Jenny Marchi, was created as a final exam project at Berghs school of communication in 2008. From the numbers in your civic registration number (in sweden, your date of birth and 4 registration numbers), a unique poster is created out of three basic elements, a square, a triangle and a circle. Everyone has a unique number and therefore, every composition is also unique.
I like the bold colours and simple shapes, Jenny was inspiered by the Memphis group, and I really love the idea.

Cute notebooks!

They made these really cute notebooks over at Sisterbrandt designstudio where I used to work and I was lucky enough to take a few of them with me home. They are made like old-fashioned schoolbooks and perfect for practising handwriting and multiplications. Since I don't feel like going back to school, I will use them differently. One book for every new project I come up with maybe?

One of the reasons I do what I do

Well, maybe that sounds a bit dramatic but Lotta Kühlhorn was one of my first graphic design idols and I still admire her work! It was her work that, amogst other things of course, made me want to work with books!
