phew....

I'm married (you can look here if you are curious ;)) and I have the privelige to spend the next month at the office of these talented ladies! Lucky me!!

A coupe of nights ago I had a dream about that an extra finger had grown on my right hand. Sounds a bit scary, I know, but the funny thing is that in the dream I was very happy about it, thinking about how convenient it would be when knitting. Found this image through favourite blog I'm Revolting but couldn't find it again when I went back to get the info. Goldfinger....

Lines or circles?

During the course I took at the university this spring one of the supervisors told me that my working process propably was circular and not linear. This was great news for me who always had to force myself into that way of thinking and always struggeled to follow the process they wanted us to use at the Danish Designschool. I kept loosing track all the time. I never even gave it a thought that my process might go in circles by constanly coming back to the same thoughts and adding more and more to it as the process goes on. Such a relief to find that this way is just as ok as the one we worked so hard to get a grip of the whole first year at school. After making this discovery I probably need to buy me some new notebooks. I am guessing they might look a bit like the bottom one here:

The cool kids

I grew up on the countryside on the island of Gotland. The small country store where my family used to go to buy food was one of the kind you hardly ever see anymore, where you could buy everything from screws and wellies to lipstick and milk. I got my first ever wrist watch there, with big numbers (my mother insisted) and a red wrist band. You had to wind it up every morning. I was six years old and so proud. Happily unaware of that the cool kids in town wore swatch watches. I sometimes wish I was that kid again.
The little store definately closed down five years ago and that summer, when I visited my parents, we went there to kind of say goodbye to an era. I bought the coolest digital watch ever. It had been hanging there since the 80's and it could play seven different tunes, the same kind that the cool country boys wore and drove the teachers mad with back in the day. It took the old man who owned the store half an hour to put the battery in, since his eyes were so weak.
As you can see I'm feeling a bit melancholic and very nostalgic today and I'm seriously considering giving up this city life.

This project by Milan based design and interior studio DWA goes back to 2003 and I don't think they are in production since I can't find them anywhere else than on DWA's own website. Looks like the kind of net used for transporting fruit, doesn't it? I particulary like the way the colours blend together when you put two different coloured nets over eachother! So nice! Since there's nowhere to buy them I suggest you make your own! Empty glass jar + two nets from fruit = coolest vase ever!

Good morning!

I'm off to Roskilde University where I'm going to attend a class in Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. It's going to be very interesting, especially for someone who is used to work with the creative stuff, but sometimes feels that she needs a little more of the business side of things. See you soon!

Move in with me!

I recently became aware of my soft spot for wooden, painted little sculptures like these or these And a couple of days ago Ellie over at Mint  posted some by artist Pepa Prieto. I suppose they are some sort of paraphrase to the Alexander Girard ones and I like the fact that they have sort of a human form to them, and that it's hard to tell whether they are little people or something else.

A couple of moons and one sun

I know that Easter is officially over but eggs never go out of style, right? My friend Jonas got this lamp made out of an ostrich egg from his grandmother. I was totally inspiered and now I have to find out where I can get a hold of an ostrich egg. It's not something you usually find in Danish supermarkets so I guess I have to hunt down an ostrich farmer or something. But isn't it great how this egg turns in to a tiny moon when gets dark? And talking about moons... My dear friend Monica, artist and musician based in Amsterdam, recently started to write and preform under the name Moon & Sun. Happy Easter!

What's holy?

Throwing out books is impossible to me. I save them all, even the sadest, cheapest little paperback I'm unable to put in the thrash. Ok, I admit, I'm not very good with throwing things away at all, I usually try to give them away or stuff them in the basement, who knows when they might come in handy? But with books it's different, books are, no matter the content, a bit holy to me. I was using old books as a part of an illustration project a few years ago and I remember that I needed to close my eyes while tearing them apart.
Anyway, if you create things that are as beautiful as this screen out of the books, you are totally forgiven. What a wonderful way to end a book life!

Kitchen shelf

Cute kitchenshelf from India available at Grønlykke. If it wasn't for the price (1850-2200 dkk) I would buy it now. Somehow it just puts me off when you know that it's probably sold for less than 1/10th of the price in India. Where does all that money go? Not to India, that's for sure.
